Assessment & Test Results

Statuatory Assessment Overview

At the end of end of Year 1 all children will sit the National Phonics Screening Check. In 2016 The Richard Crosse Church of England Primary School received a letter from Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State for School Standards, congratulating us on our 2016 Phonics results and advising us that we were in the top 8% of schools nationally.

At the end of Key Stages 1 and 2 all children will sit the national curriculum tests (SATs) in May. The results of the tests at the end of Key Stage 1 are used to inform teacher assessment and it is only teacher assessment which is reported. At Key Stage 2 the results of tests are reported to parents at the end of the year.

The tests will provide information about how your child is progressing. They are not qualifications and don’t affect your child’s future options in school. The results are used to ensure that schools are teaching their pupils the essential knowledge and skills in the subjects that are the early building blocks. This is to ensure every child reaches their full potential.

In 2015 there were changes to the tests at both key stages to take into account the changes to the national curriculum.

If you would like to learn more about last years SAT's the Department for Education have published an 'Information for Parents' booklet.
