Image of Summer Term 1 - Week 1

It has been a truly wonderful first week back in Class 4 with many energised for what is an important term ahead. Year 6 have been showing fantastic resillience as they tested themselves against the KS2 SATs from 2023 - with admirable success. Year 5 have begun a new unit of work in mathematics that focuses on shape (more specifically, perimeter and area).

In English, we have started to explore the book 'Thief' by Malorie Blackman. Before reading, we made predictions of what could happen in the story while justifying our views. Once we had become familiar with the opening of the text, we practised correctly punctuating dialogue to continue the story in the style of the author.

Our new unit in RE focused on the Islamic faith. Our class were introduced to The Five Pillars of Islam and looked in greater detail at the first two, Shahadah and Salah. Through fascinating discussions and religious texts we built our understanding of what is most important to muslims and the different ways they display their faith.

Smiles were bursting, in our Greenpower morning where our drivers became familiar with their team's carts. The year 5's and 6's worked terrifically as a team to practise the push start and steering required before race day in June.
