This week, in Class 3, we have started our English topic which is learning about stories from another culture. Our focus book is ‘The Egyptian Cinderella’ by Shirley Climo. Firstly, we sequenced the traditional story of Cinderella to help us predict how the Egyptian Cinderella might be different. We have enjoyed writing a setting description using expanded noun phrases and prepositions. In Maths, we have been representing numbers to 10,000 and partitioning them. We have found it helpful to use base ten equipment and place value counters, particularly when we are flexibly partitioning the number. On Thursday, we embarked on an exciting journey through time with our spectacular Egyptian Day! Highlights of the day include a mummification experience, learning Egyptian maths, building pyramids and discovering lots of facts about the Egyptian civilisation. There were so many fantastic costumes! Well done Class 3 for a great week!
