It has been an incredibly busy and productive week in our class! From the depths of the ocean to the calm of the yoga mat, the children have shown wonderful focus and creativity. Here is a look at what we have been up to. In English, we have continued our journey with Pinocchio. We have reached a very dramatic part of the story where the characters find themselves standing inside the whale’s mouth, looking out towards the open sea. The children used this vivid imagery to produce some fantastic writing. We focused on descriptive language, imagining exactly what Pinocchio and Geppetto could see from such a unique viewpoint. The vocabulary the children used to describe the crashing waves and the view through the whale's teeth was truly impressive! We are incredibly proud of how the children handled Assessment Week. It can be a tiring week, but everyone put in their best effort during their Maths and Reading papers. They showed great resilience and concentration—well done, everyone! As December approaches, our thoughts in RE turned to the season of Advent. We discussed what Advent means to Christians and how it is a time of preparation. We looked closely at the Advent Wreath, discussing the symbolism behind the different candles. The children learned about the significance of the specific colours—purple and pink—and what each candle represents as we count down to Christmas. The typical British weather kept us indoors for PE this week, as the rain poured down! However, we made the most of it by swapping our usual routine for Yoga. We followed a story through yoga poses, which was a lovely way to exercise. The children were brilliant at getting into the different positions and holding them. This linked perfectly with our current topic on balance, requiring core strength and concentration to stay still. Finally, the glitter has been out in full force! We were very excited to finish decorating our special Christmas crafts. These are being sold at the Christmas Market today, so please do pop by our stall. The children are buzzing with excitement to look around the market, and we are all keeping our fingers crossed that we might catch a glimpse of Father Christmas himself! Have a wonderful weekend.
