We have enjoyed a wonderfully productive and inspiring week in Class 4. The children have demonstrated exemplary dedication across all subjects, consistently embodying our core school values of love, respect, and friendship. Below is an overview of the positive learning experiences and accomplishments from throughout the week.
English
In English, the children focused on refining their formal writing skills. They learnt how to construct concise, formal paragraphs using appropriate technical vocabulary. By critically editing poor examples and drafting original passages from structured plans, the pupils developed a clear understanding of formal tone and precision. Towards the end of the week, they successfully created detailed plans for their upcoming non-chronological reports based on major cities.
Mathematics
Our mathematicians engaged in a fascinating exploration of prime numbers, utilizing the historical Sieve of Eratosthenes method to identify prime numbers efficiently. In addition, the children strengthened their calculation fluency by investigating how to multiply and divide numbers by 10, 100, and 1000.
Geography
In Geography, Class 4 investigated the environmental impacts of population density. Using data gathered during fieldwork, the children constructed accurate bar charts and analysed their findings to produce a comprehensive report detailing how population levels affect local environments. Their analytical skills and attention to detail were commendable.
Computing & Online Safety
During Computing, the children completed their unit on online safety. They undertook their end-of-unit assessments with great success, demonstrating a thorough understanding of digital responsibility. To conclude the topic, the pupils finalised their informative online habit posters, displaying great care and creativity.
PSHE
In PSHE with Ms Bowring, the pupils participated in thoughtful activities centred on what helps us protect and maintain healthy relationships. The children demonstrated marvellous maturity, showing how our school values of respect and friendship are essential when communicating with and supporting one another.
Harvest Service at All Saints Church
A memorable highlight of the week was our Harvest service at All Saints Church, which was brilliantly led by Class 4. The children spoke with confidence and reverence as they shared Bible verses and highlighted the vital work of our local foodbank in Lichfield. Through their leadership and generosity, the pupils exemplified our school value of love, showing deep compassion for members of our wider community.
Weekly Oracy Question for Home Discussion
To support your child's speaking, listening, and reasoning skills at home, we invite you to discuss the following question together:
"In Geography, we explored how population density affects the environment. When you reflect on our local area in Lichfield, what positive choices can individuals and communities make to protect the environment and support one another?"
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. We hope you have a pleasant and relaxing weekend.
Warm regards,
The Class 4 Team
