It's been a busy and brilliant start to the new term in Class 2. It’s been lovely to see everyone settle back into school life so well after the holidays. The children have been fantastic, enjoying seeing their friends again and making new ones. We've been working hard and having lots of fun, too!

In our maths lessons, we've been focusing on the numbers up to 10. The children have been busy learning how to write their numbers the correct way around, which is a key skill. Meanwhile, our Year 2s have been challenging themselves with more complex problems and investigations.

We've also been getting creative with our English and art lessons. We've been using the beautiful book Flotsam by David Wiesner as inspiration. The children have linked the story to our school values and have created some amazing work that we can’t wait to display!

In art, our Year 2s have been learning all about the famous potter Josiah Wedgwood and his beautiful Wedgwood pottery. They first sketched their own designs and then brought them to life using oil pastels or watercolour paints. The results are fantastic!

It was a fantastic start to our outdoor learning sessions with Year 1 this week! The rain tried its best to stop us, but it certainly didn't dampen our spirits. The children were absolutely amazing, and we had so much fun while getting lots done. We started our session by using a talking stick, which gave everyone a chance to share a positive experience from their first few days back at school. It was a wonderful way to learn a little more about each other. We also discussed the importance of proper clothing for all weathers and learned how to look after our special outdoor area. We went over the key rules to follow to stay safe, which is a top priority. The children's listening skills were put to the test in a sound boundary game. They had to listen carefully and follow different instructions based on the beats of a whistle—they were top-notch listeners! We also learned how to safely carry sticks of different sizes. Be sure to ask your child about the rhyme "if it's bigger than you." They can teach you what it means!

We're so proud of how well everyone has settled in, and we're already looking forward to see what next week brings!
