What a wonderful, busy, and thoughtful week Class 2 have had! As we head into the half-term break, it’s a pleasure to share everything we’ve been up to—from swashbuckling tales to finding our inner calm. This week in English, the children have been master authors! Using all the fantastic knowledge they gathered about pirates, they successfully planned and wrote their very own non-chronological reports. They did a super job structuring their writing and presenting their facts clearly. Well done, landlubbers! In Maths, we continued our focus on numbers to 100 and understanding place value (tens and ones). We have also introduced number lines, learning how to read them and where different numbers fall along the scale. This helps solidify their understanding of the order and relative size of numbers. Our PE block concluded this week, and we celebrated with a fun and spooky Halloween-themed yoga session! The children had a brilliant time stretching and posing, getting into the festive spirit. Believe it or not, the festive season is already creeping up! We’ve had our first listen to some of the Christmas Nativity songs and have started learning some of the words. It’s always exciting to begin preparing for the big show. Thursday was a special day dedicated entirely to Spirituality. We spent time thinking about what makes us happy and, crucially, how we can spread that joy and make other people happy too. It was a lovely opportunity for quiet, kind reflection. We took our Outdoor Learning session a little deeper this week with a special focus on "Outdoor Spirituality: Finding Awe and Connection." The goal was to help the children slow down, find peace, look closer, and connect with the world around them—fostering feelings of wonder and thankfulness. It was a truly calming and thoughtful session. Building on our previous outdoor work, the children each found their own "Awe Spot"—a safe, quiet place just for them. Their task was to sit peacefully for a few minutes, close their eyes to connect with the ground, and then open them to search for a "small miracle." We encouraged them to find things that made them feel a sense of 'WOW!'—to really look at the small details, like the intricate pattern on a tiny leaf or the texture of a stone. It was wonderful to hear their reflections afterwards. They shared not just what they saw, but how it made them feel: "The sound of the wind made me feel really calm," or, "I was amazed by the leaf bug crawling around." This exercise helped them move from simple observation to spiritual connection—linking the outside world to their inner feelings. Tonight, your children are coming home with their playscripts—very excited to find out what we will be doing next! Thank you for your fantastic support this term. We hope you all have a wonderful and well-deserved half term break.
