We have had a very practical, creative and exciting week!
In Mathematics, we have been introduced to our new topic: area. Even though most children excelled in their learning, we have been reiterating the importance of accuracy when drawing by using sharp pencils and carefully using a ruler. In English, we have continued exploring our new text ‘Until I Met Dudley’ by Roger McGough; We wrote explanation texts for how to use a magnificent microwave by learning technical vocabulary specific to the topic and subordinate clauses which give time, cause and effect.
In science we investigated where the magnetic field is situated using iron shavings and compasses. This resulted in a keen discussion regarding north and south poles and the properties of particular metals. In PE we continued our basketball unit where the children practiced shooting skills. In RE, we considered the similarities and differences between religious festivals that we have learnt. Most identified the symbol of light and could explain its significance. In Geography, we researched volcanoes across the globe using computers. In computing, we have continued our animation unit and experimented with the website Cloud Stop Motion in groups. Most children created a short clip of themselves waving, which was spectacular.
Class 3 have been sent home with a decorated envelope which needs to be returned next week in preparation for the Christmas Service.
Have a brilliant weekend!
