What a magical end to a wonderful, busy term!

In Mathematics, we began our topic: multiplication and division. Using factor bugs, we identified the factor pairs and listed the factors of a number. We noticed that if you work systematically, you are more likely to identify all of the factors. It also fuelled discussions regarding numbers which only have two factors. In English, we have been carrying out a very important literary skill: publishing. As we looked back at our ‘Escape from Pompeii’ narratives that we drafted a few weeks ago, we reflected on our writing progress since September. To showcase our creativity, we made a pop-up style book with a volcano and used a range of bold, striking colours to lure the reader in. Also, we focused on joined, neat handwriting and stamina and concluded the lessons with a gallery which promoted a sense of pride.

In Geography, we concluded our unit of Mountains and Volcanoes by making a volcano in groups and using a range of ingredients to cause an eruption. Despite the unpleasant vinegar scent, it was exciting! Additionally, we had a DT day about ‘British Inventors’ where children learnt who invented the telephone, about the Macintosh and how to reinforce materials to make structures strong and stable. In PE we concluded our basketball unit by recapping some dribbling skills and having a friendly match. In computing, we made our own animations by taking on the role of animators and we celebrated the end of term with a fun Christmas disco and craft afternoon. A highlight was seeing the whole school community gather together to enjoy a Christmas dinner and complete a round of 12 days of Christmas. It reminded everyone of the true spirit of Christmas: togetherness, service and love.

Have an amazing Christmas break one and all!
