It has been an absolute whirlwind of a week here in class! While we have been working hard on our usual English and Maths, the classroom has also been buzzing with some truly special activities that have made the lead-up to half term feel very festive. Our week of extras kicked off on Tuesday with our Phunky Foods workshop. It was brilliant to see so many parents in the classroom helping the children navigate the world of healthy eating. We had a great time playing a sorting game to identify which snacks keep our bodies in tip-top shape before getting stuck into some practical food prep. The children were incredibly focused while learning how to use a knife safely to cut different fruits—practising those all-important "bridge" and "claw" grips—and I think we can all agree that the best part was definitely getting to eat our colourful creations afterwards! The excitement continued on Wednesday when we welcomed some very special, very fluffy visitors. A group of baby chicks came to see us, providing a wonderful opportunity to learn about life cycles and biology in person. We spent time discussing how they hatch and exactly what they need to stay healthy and happy as they grow. The classroom was remarkably quiet and respectful as the children took turns giving them a gentle stroke; it was a lovely, calm moment that the children will certainly remember for a long time. By Thursday, we were ready to get moving for Mental Health Week. We headed to the hall to join Joe Wicks for a high-energy exercise session, reminding us all how much a bit of movement can boost our mood and keep our minds feeling sharp. There were plenty of red faces and big smiles by the end of the workout! As we wrap up the week, there is a definite buzz of excitement for the upcoming holidays. The children have worked so hard this term and they certainly deserve a good rest. We are all keeping our fingers crossed that the British weather behaves and the sun shines for us all during the holidays. Have a wonderful, safe, and happy half term!
