What a week it has been in Class 2! The sun has been shining brightly, and our classroom has been bursting with energy, creativity, and some absolutely fantastic learning. From West End dance moves to Antarctic adventures, the children have given 100% to everything they’ve done. Here is a little peek into what we’ve been up to over the last few days: We kicked off the week in the most exciting way possible with a special musical theatre workshop hosted by Progressive Sport. The children stepped into the African savanna and put together a spectacular dance routine to The Lion King. It was wonderful to see their confidence shine as they learned the choreography and performed together as a team. We definitely have some future West End stars in Class 2! In our English lessons, we have waddled into a brand-new topic all about penguins! To kick-start our research, we watched some fascinating information videos and dived into non-fiction texts. The children have been working hard on their active listening and reading skills to make detailed notes. Ask them at home tonight to share one of the many interesting penguin facts they learned this week—you might be surprised by what they know! We have turned our attention to the concepts of capacity and mass in Maths this week. The children have started exploring how we measure liquids and how we weigh different objects. We will be doing plenty of practical, hands-on activities to bring this topic to life over the coming days. As you know, the weather has been absolutely beautiful, which has made it rather warm inside the school building. To keep everyone comfortable, focused, and safe in the heat, we made a few adjustments to our daily routine:

  • Extra breaks: We took plenty of moments to rest in the shade and catch a cool breeze.
  • Water play: Breaktimes were extra fun this week as we brought out the water toys to help everyone cool down.
  • Afternoon treats: To reward the children for working so hard in the heat, they were treated to refreshing ice lollies in the afternoon!

Thank you, Class 2, for your wonderful attitude and hard work during such a busy, warm week. Have a fantastic, restful weekend in the sunshine, and don't forget your sun hats and water bottles for Monday!
