What a wonderful, busy week of learning we have had here in Class 2! We kicked off our week in English by completing our very first Big Write of the school year. The classroom was buzzing with focus as every single child tried their absolute best to produce their finest writing, showing immense determination and care. In maths, we have been exploring doubles and mastering the skill of addition by holding a number in our heads and counting on using our fingers. Year 1 also had fantastic fun in Outdoor Learning this week, beautifully combining moments of stillness with high-energy movement to explore the natural world. We took our sit mats to our own special spots in the front garden, took three deep breaths, and engaged in two minutes of quiet observation. It was magical to hear the children share their findings, noting how they heard a bird clicking, saw a tiny spider, or smelled the damp soil, which wonderfully boosted their sensory awareness and descriptive language. We then picked up the pace back in our outdoor learning area, racing against a thrilling 10-second countdown to locate and touch specific items like green leaves, bumpy bark, wooden branches, and smooth stones before enjoying some free exploration building micro-habitats and looking under logs. In History, we stepped back in time to discover what birthday celebrations would have been like in the 1960s, watching an archive clip and having brilliant discussions about the similarities and differences to our own parties today. To top it all off, we have really enjoyed eating our delicious school dinners together this week. Well done, Class 2, you are truly embracing school life and we are so proud of you!
