What a fantastic way to wrap up the half term! It has been an incredibly busy final week in Class 3, filled with assessments, creativity, and plenty of hard work. Because we have reached the end of several topics, the children have spent time taking part in a series of end-of-unit quizzes to show off everything they have learnt. In our foundation subjects, we officially concluded our units on fieldwork, Islam, and the human body. It was wonderful to see that most of the children were able to recall their key facts so well, demonstrating just how much knowledge they have retained over the last few weeks.
In our core subjects, the learning certainly didn't slow down. In maths, we kicked off an exciting new topic on decimals, where we have been focusing on understanding tenths. Meanwhile, our Year 4 superstars have been working incredibly hard practicing their times table facts in preparation for their upcoming Multiplication Tables Check. In English, the classroom turned into a publishing house as the children finished their stories inspired by the book 'The Iron Man'. The children were highly commended for their beautiful handwriting and their fantastic perseverance to produce such wonderful pieces of writing, which were packed full of expanded noun phrases, realistic dialogue, and clever prepositional phrases.
We also enjoyed plenty of practical and creative activities to round off the term. In PE, we concluded our cricket unit; unfortunately, the weather got the better of us and we could not play our final match, but we adapted quickly and practiced our shuttle runs and bowling techniques instead. During our split sessions, the Year 4s headed outside for outdoor learning to practice a Japanese dyeing technique called 'Hapa Zome', which involved hammering natural materials into fabric to create beautiful, unique designs. At the same time, the Year 3s thoroughly enjoyed their weekly art lesson. To end our brilliant week on a high-energy note, the whole class came together to take part in a live Joe Wicks exercise session. I am incredibly proud of all the hard work Class 3 have put in, and I hope everyone has a fantastic, well-deserved half-term break!
